Terms of Use
Last updated 2 September 2026.
These terms cover your use of www.hanoitourism.org. Reading the site means you accept them. They are written to be read, not to be impressive.
What this site is
Hanoi Tourism Guide publishes free editorial guides to Hanoi and the trips you can make from it. We are a publisher. We are not a travel agency, tour operator, booking platform or licensed adviser of any kind, we hold no ABTA, ATOL or Vietnamese tourism licence, and we sell nothing. Any arrangement you make with a hotel, restaurant, guide, driver, train operator or tour company is between you and them.
Accuracy, and the honest limits of it
We research carefully and correct quickly, but travel information about Hanoi goes stale in a way that information about most cities does not. Street food stalls move. Restaurants keep hours that are not published anywhere. Museums and the Imperial Citadel close on days that shift with the lunar calendar and with public holidays. Bus routes get renumbered. Train fares and schedules change with the season. Prices in Vietnamese đồng move with inflation and with the exchange rate, so every dollar figure we quote is an approximation on the day it was written.
So: verify anything that your plans depend on, directly with the operator, before you rely on it. Check the museum is open before you cross the city. Check the train runs before you book a hotel at the other end. If we have got something wrong, tell us through the contact page and we will fix it.
Travel is your decision and your risk
Content here is general information, not personal advice. In particular:
- Visas and entry. What we write about Vietnamese e-visas, visa exemptions and entry requirements reflects the rules as we understand them at the time of writing. Immigration rules change without notice and are applied at the border by officials, not by us. The authority is the Vietnamese embassy or consulate for your nationality. Get it wrong and you will be refused boarding.
- Health. Anything we write about vaccinations, food and water, air quality or medical care in Hanoi is general background. It is not medical advice and does not replace a travel health clinic or your own doctor.
- Safety. Our safety guides describe scams and hazards we believe are real and current. They cannot be exhaustive, and describing a risk is not a guarantee you will avoid it. Riding a motorbike in Hanoi traffic, in particular, is genuinely dangerous, frequently requires a licence you may not hold, and is excluded by many travel insurance policies. That decision is yours.
- Insurance and money. Nothing here is financial or insurance advice. Read the policy documents yourself.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we accept no liability for loss, injury, expense, missed connections, refused entry, disappointment or any other consequence arising from decisions you make on the basis of what you read here. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, where the law does not permit that limit.
Independence and advertising
Recommendations on this site are editorial. No business pays to be listed, ranked or praised, and nobody named in a guide gets to see it before it publishes. The site is funded by display advertising, which is served by a third party and sits separately from the editorial. If that ever changes — if we take an affiliate arrangement, for instance — it will be disclosed on the page it applies to, not buried here.
Advertisements are not endorsements. We do not choose the individual ads shown to you, we have no relationship with the advertisers, and we are not responsible for what happens if you click one.
Copyright
The text, structure, itineraries and original photography on this site belong to Hanoi Tourism Guide and are protected by copyright. You are welcome to read it, print a page for your own trip, and quote a short extract with a link back and clear attribution. You may not republish our guides in whole or in substantial part, translate and repost them, or scrape the site to train or feed a commercial model, without written permission — which you are welcome to ask for.
Some images are used under Creative Commons or comparable licences and are credited where required. If you own something on this site and it is used without proper permission or credit, contact us and we will credit it or remove it promptly.
Linked sites
We link out to embassies, transport operators, heritage sites, health authorities, hotels and restaurants. Those sites are not ours, we do not control what they publish, and a link is not a warranty about them.
Using the site properly
Do not attempt to break into, overload or interfere with the site or its server, scrape it at a volume that degrades it for other readers, or use the contact form to send spam, marketing or link-building requests. Access may be blocked without notice where that happens.
Availability
The site is provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be reachable or error free, and it may be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons on our host’s side.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated; the current version is always the one on this page, with its date at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your own country.
